Teamwork brings it all together on day 2

Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL

Small challenges on Saturday, Day 2 of Roar before the 24, were turned into big opportunities for the Doran Racing Team. In addition to fighting the increased drag resulting from the ?parachute? added to the rear wing of all older prototypes, Dr. Jim Lowe had a mishap towards the end of the afternoon session with the No. 70 Speedsource Mazda, damaging the front left steering arm. While not major damage, it did put the Ford Dallarra into the garage with 30 minutes remaining on the clock. The drivers eager to get seat time now had to sit and wait for the repairs to be made. Crew Chief Russell Foley took it in stride. ?This is simple. We?ll get it done in no time. Some cars took bigger hits this morning and came back to the garages with much bigger problems. ? The Ford Dallarra was back on track right on time for the afternoon session.

Brian Frisselle executed the shake down laps, adjustments were made, and the car performed well into night practice showing some improvement over the first day. While team owner Kevin Doran admitted the Ford Dallarra is still struggling to find top speed, the crew is working to find a viable solution. ?The data shows all three drivers are going flat out, but the engine is slow. Sunday morning we will change the gear box and see where that leads us. These Ford engines are strong so we don?t think that is the problem.? As the drivers share feedback with each other and the crew, were shaping up as they concluded day 2. ?Clearly from a team approach Brian and Burt did a great job making the car much faster working with Kevin and the crew. It was an obvious and significance improvement from yesterday. Personally I felt more comfortable and at home in the Doran Ford Dallarra and my times are moving in the right direction. While we started the morning feeling a little bit disadvantaged, we finished the day with more confidence in our ability to have good pace during the endurance run.?
The Team will continue to build on the success achieved today as they go into the final day of practice of the Roar before the 24.
